Under general supervision and direction of the Director Construction Line of Business, the Project Manager’s primary responsibility is to enhance the Line of Business by exploring new & different opportunities and to fundamentally grow the business through various means including direct customer interaction. The PM is responsible for developing, planning, budgeting and coordinating new projects for dissemination to the regional operations, providing support as needed therein. Project types are, but not limited to: Filter plant rehabilitation, Water & Wastewater Plant rehabilitation, general industrial facilities, concrete structures, pump stations, valve systems & controls and water treatment solutions; and any and all work that falls under the CPR LOB.

  • Identifies and evaluates new opportunities.

  • Identifies internal and external resources for developing, planning, budgeting, and completing projects successfully.

  • Provides leadership for projects/opportunities by building and motivating individual personnel and other lines of business to develop, build and grow the CPR LOB.

  • Qualifies resources, including vendors & subcontractors, to perform needed work, including but not limited to; mechanical, excavation, traffic control, electrical, process controls (SCADA), HVAC repair and installation, lighting, flooring, protective coatings, and other trades.

  • Coordinates, monitors and manages work development of design engineers, subcontractors, customers, and government agencies, as necessary, and negotiates with other organizations and agencies in the development of the projects.

  • Must communicate consistently and effectively with customers, vendors, subcontractors, Suez Operations, Suez Sales Staff, other Suez lines of business.

  • Develops plans and confirms specifications, helps the LOB generate pricing; obtain permits; comply with environmental and safety regulations; to support projects involved in construction of new facilities and improvements to existing facilities.

  • Identifies and communicates with the customer for additional opportunities, improvement, and scope of work adjustments.

  • Strengthens customer relationships and customer satisfaction.

The Project Manager must have a basic understanding of water and wastewater treatment plant technologies and the operation and processes employed at water treatment plants as well as throughout water distribution systems.

Required Skills

  • Ability to effectively manage and negotiate with vendors and subcontractors

  • Ability to read and interpret documents including engineering studies and reports; construction specifications; operating, maintenance, and procedure manuals; and engineering drawings.

  • Ability to write routine reports, internal memoranda, letters, agreements, and responses to customers.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with employees, consultants, engineers, other agencies, and contractors.

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

  • Ability to solve day-to-day problems and to properly respond to stressful situations.

  • Ability to plan, organize, and schedule workload to maintain efficiency in assigned duties.

  • Ability to make presentations to groups.

  • Ability to train others.

  • Ability to negotiate with consultants and contractors.

  • Ability utilize word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation computer applications.

Required Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or similar degree

  • 5 years of experience in Project Management

  • Sound technical knowledge in water treatment and distribution system & components
